Al-Anon
Help and hope for families and friends of alcoholics. Participants have the opportunity to learn from the experiences of others who have faced similar problems at a wide variety of daily local meetings which can be found by a zip code search on their website. Al-Anon Family Groups is a spiritual fellowship, not a religious one. They avoid discussion of specific religious doctrine, and members of all faiths (or of none) are welcome. The Twelve Step program asks participants to find a “Power greater than ourselves” who can help solve problems and find serenity. Each member is free to define that power in his or her own way.
Families Anonymous
Families Anonymous (FA) is a 12-step fellowship specifically for the family and friends of those individuals with drug, alcohol or related behavioral issues. Weekly in-person, hybrid or ZOOM meetings for friends and family members of addicted loved ones who need support. FA helps those struggling by sharing experiences and insights to help gain peace, balance and hope in their lives in a trusting, confidential and caring community. NAMI of Connecticut
The state chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness. Since 1984 NAMI CT is a statewide grassroots organization that is dedicated to improving the quality of life for individuals living with mental illness, as well as their families and loved ones.
NAMI Young Adult Connection Groups
NAMI Young Adult Connection Group is a peer-led support group for any young adult (ages 18-29) who has experienced symptoms of a mental health condition/experiencing challenges as a young person. Participants will gain insight from hearing the challenges and successes of others, and the groups are led by trained leaders who’ve been there. All of our groups focus on managing mental wellness through thought-provoking activities, recovery skill building, goal planning, socialization, and supportive discussion.
