Bible Study
Our weekly discussion-based Bible Study, meets Thursday at 10 a.m. in the Church. Led by David Rowe, we always enjoy good conversation, and welcome new faces at any time!
E-mail Bible Study
Our popular “E-mail Bible Study” program is sent each week to those on our distribution list. A single page study guide, it offers thoughts from the pastors and invites response and conversation. In a one hour lecture, author Marilynne Robinson discusses significant achievements of early Congregationalists in England and North America originally written to commemorate the 400th anniversary of America’s first Congregational service in 1620. Click here to watch.
In 1839, 53 captured Africans rebelled aboard the Spanish schooner La Amistad. They took control of the ship and sailed it to Long Island, where they were captured and jailed for piracy and murder. They allied with local abolitionists to fight for, and win, their freedom in the US court system. Professor Marcus Rediker explains their story from a new perspective making the point that their freedom was attained because they were abducted free Africans with full human rights: Click here to watch.
